6th Annual

Saturday, August 17 • Mill Race Park

Grammy-nominated REO Speedwagon will headline the 2013 Rock the Park concert on Saturday, August 17 in Mill Race Park. The gates open at 6:30 PM and the 2013 winner of the Battle of the Bands will open the show at 7:30 PM.

Formed as a college band in 1967, REO Speedwagon gained a faithful following during the 1970s, while touring across the Midwest. Their first major, commercial success came in 1980 with the release of Hi Infidelity, which produced four U.S. Top 40 hits. Hi Infidelity remains the group’s best-selling album, with over ten million copies sold. Over the course of its career, REO has sold more than 40 million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits, including the number ones “Keep On Loving You” and “Can't Fight This Feeling”. Decades later, the nine-times certified platinum Hi Infidelity remains a high-water mark for rock bands; the album spent 15 weeks in the #1 slot, a feat unattainable in music today.

At the center of REO’s desire to keep rocking is Kevin Cronin. One of the original members, Cronin penned some of the biggest hits in rock music. With bandmates Bruce Hall on bass, keyboardist Neal Doughty, Dave Amato on lead guitar and drummer Bryan Hitt, REO celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2007 by releasing the band’s 15th studio album, Find Your Own Way Home. In 2009, REO teamed up with fellow Midwestern rock band Styx to record their new single, “Can’t Stop Rockin’,” co-written by the two band’s front men, Cronin and Tommy Shaw. In 2010 REO toured with Pat Benatar and in 2012 toured with Styx and Ted Nugent in the Midwest Rock N’ Roll Express Tour.

Tickets for Rock the Park go on sale on Monday, June 17.
Adult ticket prices are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. 18 and under are $10 in advance or $15 at the gate.
